Linkbuilding after Panda 3.3

As many of you would know Google Panda 3.3 has already arrived!

    Here is the story:

    http://searchengineland.com/google-...-link-evaluation-local-search-rankings-113078

Google says it’s getting rid of a link evaluation signal that it’s been using for years. This one’s sure to prompt discussion:

Link evaluation. We often use characteristics of links to help us figure out the topic of a linked page. We have changed the way in which we evaluate links; in particular, we are turning off a method of link analysis that we used for several years. We often rearchitect or turn off parts of our scoring in order to keep our system maintainable, clean and understandable.

So what do you guys think, the blog post submission and high pr homepage backlinks which were working really great lately will be hit by this update?

Interesting, from what i understood, it means that building backlinks will not matter anymore.
They are really focusing only on unique content. I also believe that only the major players will succeed.

Yes, it seems that only the major players will succeed. Sites offering value to its users shouldn't worry. However, i am concerned with different results showing up for users based on their location.

I think it is a drastic leap to take it to mean that building backlinks will not matter anymore. "in particular, we are turning off a method of link analysis that we used for several years" to me that means that they are looking at links differently, not stopping looking at them.

Wow, this couldn't be more wrong.

I've ranked pages with only 200-300 words of spun content to the #1 position in Google for competitive keywords.

Backlinks seem to be the only thing that does matter, and I don't see that ever changing.

Its funny that you say this because I wrote an article not so long ago and I basically wrote that although google will be looking more socially for ranking signals, traditional back linking will always play a part IMO.

Good to know backlinks are still working according to some. But, I'm still getting on board with this latest update so I'm going to watching the feedback and comments closely in relation to the update for the next couple of months.

If you want my opinion, they will no longer be looking at a link that says *anchor* means that the page it links to, is about *anchors.* And will as they have for all of panda, look more towards what is actually on the content of the page. So therefore a link with the anchor Kardashians going towards a page about backlinks will not rank that page for Kardashians, regardless of the number of backlinks pointing towards that page that say Kardashians. However it could still improve overall based on the quality and content of the page.

Backlinks will always matter. Social media will always matter. Without the two there will be no way to judge the popularity of a page.

Unique content is great and google loves it. But Google will never be able to determine the validity of articles, Only humans, and thus backlinks, can truly judge its value

Yes you right, Panda are prioritizing more to content building rather than backlink building

Are you guys reading the same update as me? There is only one reference to content in general, and that is:

"We’ve applied new signals which help us surface fresh content in our results even more quickly than before."

What are you reading in this update that makes you say what you say please?

It seems to me that this is just a continuation of googles efforts to keep developing how they assess and rank links. If links continue to be the most effective way of determining popularity and relevance, then they will carry on trying to keep us on our toes with regards to what constitutes a good quality link.

I read a coment in Google webmaster central help forum from last November suggesting that they were working on a tool to exclude crappy links from the GWT report, and
I'm wondering if perhaps this ties in with the comment in the update about evaluting links.
The reason why I have this thought is that in the last month I've seen a drop in the linking domains to my site from 833 to 749, (which is a 10% drop) and the vast majority have been sites that were poor quality and the links were not placed or asked for by me. (The actual number of domains that have gone is actually greater than this, because I have continued to add new ones).

What I find interesting is that during this period of time I have seen an increase in SERPs, so that when I had 833 linking domains I had 7 keywords on page 1, and now I have 19. I haven't made any significant changes to my site during this period.

Obviously no conclusions can be drawn on the basis of one site and it would be interesting to learn if anyone has had a similar experience. But for my site it seems that not only are some links no longer being considered, but that perhaps more weight is being given to some of the existing ones.
Alternatively, it could all just be coincidental!

What ever the reason is but its good if that happens. Because ultimately all the things else than our content are of no use for visitors. Google is a search engine so its ultimate aim would be to deliver results based PURELY on Content. If this panda update is not going to do this then the next one will do. Though late but Google will do it someday for sure, for its own survival.

Google uses machines to crawl websites, they are not read by humans. Machines do not know whether content is true or has authority, that is why Google relies on backlinks,
placed by humans who have read the content and consider it to be of such quality that they are happy for their own visitors to also see it.
Unless a machine is devised that can think as a human, no amount of Panda updates is going to enable Google to deliver results based purely on content, i.e. without
some form of human voting for it.

IF Google won't give much priority to backlinks then its not a good news for those who has less content site or single page websites because those are usually get rank through backlinks .. Now how z they will get rank ?
