URL strategies for blog SEO purposes

    What's better for SEO?

Add a blog on my website www.brookbend.com as:

    www.brookbend.com.blog or,

As a URL-independent blog as: www.blog.com and have it link reciprocally to brookbend.com

    HELPFUL BACKGROUND:
The blog's content will be different than the website content because the blog targets people who are not ready to buy; they are in discovery, not purchasing. Hence the keywords are entirely different for the blog.

[Which brings up a related even though not a direct issue: if the blog is a URL extension as brookbend.com.blog then the blog keywords forward to a landing page on the blog part of the website. So the mechanics of getting people to the right subject area work out the same. But I'm hard-pressed to believe the SEO results are the same. Of course you may see other angles I don't, that are important. Certainly, for purchasing purposes, the bond created between the blog and the shopping cart site is made much stronger with the direct extension approach. Not to mention a stronger branding effect. Both of which affects sales.]

    I agree with goodluckdomain.

No need to create a separate website for your blog. By doing that, you'll divide your attention and focus by two.
