I want to learn SEO and SMO from scratch. I have little bit Idea as what is what. But don't know stepwise proceeding in learning SEO and SMO. Can somebody guide me? I would like to learn it also practicals if possible.

use h tags, meta tags, canonical urls and fresh well written unique content, submit xml sitemap through google webmaster tools.
