Once Google finds out about a site, the rate at which Google indexes a site is entirely up to Google. Google being "backed up" can lead to slower indexing, but they are usually quite fast. The fact that you used Blogspot may help, as it is a Google owned platform.

When I create sites, a new site's traffic report usually shows Google spidering the site within an hour of submitting a sitemap (no backlinking needed to spur Google on). Getting indexed is not the hard part. Getting good traffic and good search engine positioning is where the challenge lies. :)

One thing I learned, yesook, is to clear my cookies/cache on my computer too before checking for my own site. I used to use http://www.scroogle.org to see where my site showed up in rankings, but it hasn't been functioning anymore.

When I first set up cheap-plr-articles.com it appeared on page 1 of google on the same day for the keywords "cheap plr articles". It then stayed on page 1 for about 4 weeks, then dropped to about page 5 and is now back to page 1.

I don't know how Google do things!

I've had blogs show up within hours. It all depends on how fast the Google spiders "find" your site. The more backlinks you get the quicker they will find your site through other sites that are already in their index. The best thing to do is start getting backlinks immediately, but only a handful a day at first.

Don't wait for Google to find your site through backlinks. You can submit your sitemap directly to Google to get crawled. If you are using Wordpress (self-hosted) for your blogs you can use a sitemap plugin (like Google XML Sitemaps) that not only updates your sitemap automatically, but will submit your sitemap updates directly to the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, Ask, Bing).

One of my sites has not been indexed for 4 months now. I think there is an error now with the XML structure

It all depends on if google can find your website or not. Sometimes google will be very quick at finding it and other times it wont. From there, its anyone's guess how long google will take to index the site

Use Google Webmaster Tools to see the visibility of your site and its pages on Google.

mhovingh is right. Using google webmaster tools to submit your site and have google diagnosis the problem, should be mandatory. To goes for all any new blog/website. I just want to add that if you also use "google website optimizer" which is also a free tool, it allows the user to optimize conversions.

I would also advise to have a site map on your website/blog to have the crawling a lot easier.
