Humans tend to congregate, so because it started as a small congregation, it steadily grew, and attractive more users than it drove away. That is my guess.
I am still new in DP, but I knew why DP is so popular now, I don't need a reason for this because you can feel it yourself
Because you can increase traffic ranking through DP and too many people are reading and sharing there view at a same time.
It's not all that bad of a forum. Of course, I spend my time on other forums too, but DP's where I go to just chill...and maybe help a few newbies out. There are some great people on this forum, just have to do your part and find them.
1. It's not a blog... 2. There isn't anything similar. There may be sites out there that do one thing we do, but none that do everything. And most of the time it's us doing whatever that one thing is first, and them just copying it (poorly). The site has been around a lot longer than the forum. Some examples of things people use here that other sites can't copy: World's largest search engine position tracker (100,000 users using it to track over 3,000,000 keywords): http://tools.digitalpoint.com/tracker Digital Point Ads: http://advertising.digitalpoint.com/ Find your stolen computer: http://tools.digitalpoint.com/phonehome etc... If you think this site is just a forum, then you are limiting yourself. Even much of the cool stuff we've done within the forum, we were the ones to invent the idea (and then other forums try copying after the fact). Things that originated on this site first: AdSense revenue sharing, Spy, Recent Blogs, etc.
