Does anyone here use CMS?

I'm assuming everyone here likes to build their sites from the ground up.

My question is, does anyone here use CMS and integrate their own code into it? I am wondering if I can somehow "hook on" my own sites onto a CMS and make my work more productive in that sense.

If you want to hook your own code into a CMS then look around for open source CMS's. Alot of people create their own code for their CMS's. When I used to manage MyBB forums I would intergrate my own PHP code into scripts.

So is it possible to hook up my site to any CMS?

In other words, it's possible to have the best of both worlds?

I build using Drupal 6. It's quite a useful CMS when you have a routine set of requirements coming from clients. The module system is quite useful. I don't deny that there are huge frustrations with regards to documentation though. This is mitigated by a large number of excellent blogs on Drupal development by talented programmers who solve specific problems and then generously share their knowledge with the world in their blog posts. Just a search on Google yields a solution to any commonly faced problem in Drupal.

Sometimes, when the order deviates too far from the ordinary, I use a framework like Codeigniter. But Drupal usually has me covered.

Word press is best for blogs and informative website while joomla CMS would be best for eCommerce or business purpose websites.
