Cloud computing is the delivery of computing as a service rather than a product , whereby shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices as a metered service over a network.

Cloud Computing has tremendous benefits to offer. Imagine having a time when you no longer require any time-consuming installation. All the software's you require are available from the browser, there is no need for maintenance update and all that... There are tremendous benefits associated with cloud.

IMO Cloud Computing holds the future. It's like having this Virtual Drive where all your computer accessories could be stored. In my Honest Opinion Cloud Computing like GDrive can put an end to Microsoft Desktop Computers which are still widely used in Developing Countries.

Cloud computing is the next stage in the Internet's evolution, providing the means through which everything — from computing power to computing infrastructure, applications, business processes to personal collaboration — can be delivered to you as a service wherever and whenever you need.

The “cloud” in cloud computing can be defined as the set of hardware, networks, storage, services, and interfaces that combine to deliver aspects of computing as a service. Cloud services include the delivery of software, infrastructure, and storage over the Internet (either as separate components or a complete platform) based on user demand. (See Cloud Computing Models for the lowdown on the way clouds are used.)

To put it simply (i.e. without either trying to be funny or trying to sound like an Internet mystic) Cloud computing is when someone puts software or service on an Internet connected server and allows everyone to use it (usually for a fee). For example: If you want to use Microsoft Office you can go out and buy the software for several hundred dollars. Or if you only need it for a short while you can use it on the "Cloud". This means using the software on Microsoft's own server (via the Internet) without buying your own software. They will charge you for this, but if you only use it occasionally, it works out cheaper than buying the software.

In short, the Cloud is exactly what the Internet was designed for, before the World Wide Web was created. In other words, after thirty years we have gone back to the start, and are calling it "progress"!
