Problem with my site in google.

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by aj845, Feb 8, 2012.

When I search for my site in Google with WWW.my site.com it gives less link and when I search without "WWW" it gives me more links. Why is that? Is this a problem ? How can I fix this?

    Thanks

    Hi
some time google search the website without WWW so its not the problem , just check the website for the canonical issue and if there is a canonical issue then remove it.

Probably you have links from other sites that uses these two versions, you can't tell which on this format has better numbers in real for Google just showing a fraction of them. To solve your worry, especially on duplicates, implement a redirect to only one format of you URL.

You need to edit your .htaccess file and add the 301 redirect for non www to www.

Google search for more info on the 301 redirect

If you are still not sure you will be able to do it Hostgator technical support should help. Best of luck to you :)

Your site has two versions like with www and without www. So, when you search the your site with www and www it shows two different results. So give a 301 redirection.
