Yes i agree with this. You have to submit your site on some popular sources and search engine submission also help full for you. It is not good idea to custom crawl rate by google analytic tool.

First of all do some search engine submission then social bookmark to digg and stumbleupon. And share the page with Facebook and Twitter.

If you don't mind i have an idea. You can increase your website crawl rate from web-master tools but i think its not good according to SEO strategy.

For increasing the crawl rate for your website first you have to increase the PR of your website. Because that a google can crawl that website most whose PR is high and so that if you are working for increasing your website PR then your website have chances to crawl most by the google.

You can't change the crawl rate of Google Spiders. You can suggest different crawl rates, but google searches what they want and how they want.

If you are trying to get your website to update in the search engines, I have a few suggestions for you.

    1) Make sure your website has a Sitemap so Search Engines have an easier time crawling your website.
    2) Do a quick Ping of each page that you want to get re-indexed.
    3) Build More Backlinks and Ping them.
    4) Give It TIME. It takes a few days for Search Engines to update your pages.

You can increase is by changing the setting in Google Webmasters after you submit a sitemap and verify your website.

This is extremely incorrect. You cannot control any part of Google, and anyone that tells you otherwise is extremely wrong. You can SUGGEST that Google visits your website more often. The problem is that Google wants fresh content, so they don't like crawling the same page over and over if it hasn't changed in some way. If you have a page that gets comments, and you aren't using a blog platform that automatically pings, then you could ping the page yourself in order to ask Googlebots (and other search engine bots) to check the page.

If you submit content on a regular basis, then the search engines will tend to crawl the site that much faster

submitting sitemap to google webmaster tool will increase crawling rate. You should make sitemaps weekly as you update you blog daily and submit the sitemap to google.
