How often does Google index new sites?

    Hi guys,

Just looking for some general info as to how to get Google to re-index a web-page I'm building. I copied a touch of code from an old site and forgot a little img alt text from a previous client. Now when this site is searched, the holding page pops up in Google and has some of that text under the title. The site is located at jessehindle.com.

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Mike

That really depends on several factors but the main is how important they think your new website is. If you build some quality links it will help get your website get crawled more frequently.

just keep working on your new site and dont worry too much about indexing. google finds your site following your backlinks. so once you are done updating your site, build a few backlinks and your site indexing will be updated. might take a few days depending on you link building activity.

New sites generally can take up to a week, however if you're building quality links to your website instantly it shouldnt take long at all.

Thanks a lot everyone. I assumed as much, but was just wondering if there were any specific strategies for speeding up the process for a site with very little content at the moment. I guess I'll just keep working away and playing the waiting game.

Thanks again for the speedy feedback!

I had sites indexed without any link. That's why many people use noindex tag or robots.txt until their site is finished.

Most sites are indexed quickly, and for some it takes 2 weeks. I have a 6 month site that is not indexed, I blame the domain which I bought through a forum.

Google's spiders regularly crawl the web to rebuild our index. Crawls are based on many factors such as PageRank, links to a page, and crawling constraints such as the number of parameters in a URL. Any number of factors can affect the crawl frequency of individual sites.

Our crawl process is algorithmic; computer programs determine which sites to crawl, how often, and how many pages to fetch from each site. We don't accept payment to crawl a site more frequently. For tips on maintaining a crawler-friendly website, please visit our Webmaster Guidelines.

Quality content and traffic will get you indexed faster, but as others stated it depends on a lot of different factors.

It depends upon your own efforts. For example if you have buildup a sitemap for SE submissions that could get you indexed in two hours.

It all depends upon how frequently you update your blog.. if you update on a daily basis, you will get a faster crawling rate than those who updates on a weekly basis
