Start a "Minimalist" Design Blog?

    Hey guys,

I'm looking for some help. I want to start a personal website. Something where I can blog and post things that are relevant to my life. I want it to be minimal, simple, and elegant. In fact, I've found a site that I love and pretty much want to steal the design.

    http://alexonsager.net/

I have no idea what I'm doing and no idea how to start off. Can you help me? I would be willing to pay if you could direct me to a reliable freelancer or if any of you have done your own work and have a website where I can check out your work. HMU

    Thanks!!
    Jay

    Hey Jay,

Are you familiar with Wordpress as this is a Wordpress website with a custom theme (not sure on that though)

If you need help I can help you with the installation and possibly design of the site.

    Regards,
    Toycel

Hey Toycel, thanks for the response!

I have heard of wordpress but I guess I never really knew what it was. I went and took look and for what I want to do it would cost 100 bucks. 100 bucks is the absolute most I want to spend so if that's absolutely everything I would need I might go that route.

My main focus is the design. I'm really in love with the blog design I posted so is there any way we could find out how to do that? Is there a cheaper way to do it?

Thanks so much for your help!

You should look for a wordpress designer at the Buy/Sell section. Show them the website and ask if they can replicate it.

Cool thanks! I really like the "Big Sqaure" one.

I'm going to see what I can do with wordpress today because it's snowing and my professor cancelled class AND I don't have to work lol SNOW DAY!! I'm going to try and get it all set up and then head over to buy/sell and see how much it would cost for the design.

Thanks everybody for your help :) if I run into any snags I'll be back.

I'm also for the minimalist wordpress engine for your website... However, if you want to track just your personal life, it's better just to start blog at wordpress or blogger. There are a few nice and rather minimalist templates there. You can use them.

Alright I went and bit the bullet!

I'm using the free version but I spent 24 bucks for a custom domain. My site won't load though and I'm at a loss. I've been perusing the help section for about an hour and am about to go  lol

    Woot!

I got it to load and I even found a pretty cool theme. I'm going to stick to the free ones for now but I may have a custom upgrade if I get a bit tired of this one.

Thank you guys so much for all the help/suggestions :)

    Happy Tuesday!!
