How to select an investor for a million dollar idea?

Discussion in 'General Business' started by QZAX, Feb 1, 2012.

I have a site, just launched. It has huge potential. Certain to be big and successful in very short time. With good investment, the site can excel very quickly. So, i am seeking an investor. But there are many.

Now, how to choose the best investor. Everyone asks for the site name or the idea. But I do not wish to share it with everyone. I am going to tell it to only one who will be chosen. Because the idea is big, really big. I am offering 70-30 deal. 70% for me and 30% for the investor.

The site will be within top 100 sites in very short time.

Every site could be 'big and successful' with enough capital investment, but would an investor ever see a return? That's all an investor is interested in. I suggest you keep bootlegging it until you actually have something worth investing into, should it ever reach a funding level.

You say your site has 'just launched' so why can't we see it? If its so big surely you'd have a link in your signature?

You'll need to prove to the investor how successful the site will be.

Watch a few episodes of "Dragons Den" and you'll gain an understanding of how Angel Investors operate.

Basically you are looking for an investor who will give you the money at the least expense (shares, payments etc) and who will possibly have expertise in an area where your existing team is lacking.

Good luck, and be sure to let us know when you launch - just in case we miss it.

If you've got multiple investors hitting you up to give you money, you don't need to be asking questions here--get an attorney and look over their conditions. But, if you think you can get investors without sharing your URL or idea, you'll need to re-evaluate that, and your other expectations.

The site has just started. Not even 100% complete.
Sharing the idea with everyone at this stage seems risky to me.
There are many in this world who are more qualified than me. I don't want them to get my idea.

Do you know the story of facebook?
Mark the founder of facebook stole the idea from other.
I got this information from the movie "The Social Network". So sorry, if that movie presented the wrong fact.

Have potential investors sign a confidentiality contract before you share anything with them. That way your idea will be safeguarded and you'll have a chance to prove what you are saying is true. If you see your idea pop up then you'll know you can take legal action. Good luck with your site! Just be sure to be humble as well as confident. :)

Make sure you do your due diligence on the potential investors, 99% is just after your idea. Be sure to sign a NDA and/or non-compete agreement as well.

This is an excellent blog about investing: http://www.bothsidesofthetable.com/

Keep in mind investors have hundreds of people coming to them with $1 million dollar ideas every day so you need to stand out and sell yourself. They look for your ability to make it a success as much as the idea itself.

It's a joke between me and the OP. He has a weird fetish about dying hair pink, which may be what his idea involves. A website where you can dye your hair virtually. Where's my checkbook...

Yes, a really good joke started from contentboss. He liked it so much that he has promised to color his hair around his private part to pink.

I did indeed. Although it was his suggestion. I'll do it when he gets an 'investor' for his 'million dollars idea'.

He seems quite keen on 'private part' (singular???). Perhaps he only has the one ball.

    Like Hitler.

It seems as it is going to different direction. This is the the area for that kind of posts. I apologize to everyone (except to contentboss) for posting all the nonsense on this thread.

For Contentboss : If you want to keep going, send me a private message rather than posting here. We are not making anyone happy doing this. So, lets battle in private.
