i want to buy a domain name including two dashes "--" for example : my-own--ideas.com so does it affect my seo in a bad way or wut ? and even on dash will affect it ?? or the dashes does not affect the seo at all waiting for your fast response plz thanks in advance
search engines consider every - is like space, and i don't think double - is good for domain. You can use it twice but after each word give it once....like ........Articles-For-Free dot com
but a friend of mine told me that he bought a domain name contains "--" which could be for example : Articles--Free dot com and he got a 300 search visitor in the first week so he is saying that it doesn't affect the seo so now i'm so confused
I have never heard of anyone using a double -- between 2 words, only one -. You must not know how to do keyword research to find a better domain option. Horrible idea in my opinion. Also look for the .NET and .ORG ext. It doesn't have to be a .COM domain. If they are unavailable add an x or 1 after the name. ie. myownideasx.com or myownideas1.com, .net, etc. There has to be a better option than the one your thinking of.
first: wut about if couldn't find for example " myownideas.com" should i buy this " myownideasss.com " second : can the bots understand the domain name " myownideas.com " as " my own ideas " as i'm using it in my title
Well it doesn't matter, dashes and other symbols are disregarded by google instantly. once the crawler get into your meta. it will read the url without dashes. but IMHO it is better to use url without symbols. why? because of the users, it will be remembered easily, unlike with dashes.
hi. using double between two words, doesn't matter. Some people use it and some do not. Once the Google will crawl your site, it will read the URL without dashes. Its Google rules and policy.
i'm sorry but i couldn't any term in the google privacy that talking about dashes in the url so can you send me that term which talking about the url plz
Google doesn't matter what domain you have as it relies in backlinsk or other seo factors and not the domain name. But people may think twice before visiting your site by looking at the uncommon '--' in your domain name and further this may also become like an obstacle in gainig first time visitor's trust.
You can't judge anything based on 1st week's result, especially with Google. If your friend got 300 visitors in 1st week doesn't mean he'll keep getting it through out the month or year. Practically - Double Dashes aren't recommended. However, I always believe in testing. The best bet would be to try it and see it for yourself.
Usually google did not like double dashes between the words. And you are right test will give the right path to us.....
