What is 101Kidz.com?
101Kidz.com is a content site with tons of random activities and information for kids. From holiday cards to jokes to information about plants and animals, kids could waste tons of time browsing the site, especially if someone were to go through and apply a better design.
History of 101Kidz.com
The site was created in mid-2003 as a portal for children's activities, jokes, games and information.
I purchased the site from the original owner back in February of 2011, cleaned up the layout, threw on some adsense units and let it sit and make me money ever since.

When I took the site over a year ago, it was built in static HTML. I went through and converted it to simple PHP, with an include for the header and footer to make it easier to update the layout of the entire site on the fly. I also added a basic comment feature to help generate some extra unique content for free.
There is a very limited admin panel for approving or deleting new comments. It takes a few minutes a week to go through the comments, something that could easily be outsourced on ODesk for a few dollars an hour.
There are wordpress plugins designed to easily import static HTML sites into wordpress if you prefer that platform. I have personally never looked into this, so I can't really help you out with that.

Income comes completely from Adsense. I bought the site in February of last year, so there was only partial income for the month of February, and zero income for January.
I haven't even tried anything other than throwing the adsense units up. A few ideas off the top of my head for increasing earnings:

• There are still affiliate links to 123Greetings.com that are not making any money. Replacing those with actual affiliate links could bring in even more revenue.
• Try out different affiliate offers. I haven't given anything other than adsense a chance.
• Try out different ad networks.
• Sell links. An aged PR3 site with hundreds of indexed pages should be able to pull in a good amount of cash from link sales.
• Optimize the existing adsense units. I didn't even try testing different size/color/positioned adsense units.
