How do you use Social Media for your business?

    Hello all,

I'm genuinely curious...my company uses Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and blogging to broaden the reach of our online marketing efforts. Sometimes we struggle with actually being able to maintain all of these, but we do our best of course. Sometimes we use a host like HootSuite or Timely to extend out our posts.

How do you use Social Media sites to promote your business online? Is there any streamlined way you prefer to get your message across without having to devote an exorbitant amount of time to each site? What sites or blogs do you reference to gain IM advice?

    Thanks!

In my experience, I use Facebook Fan Page to invite people who were interested for example in "how to play guitar".. In that case they will be visiting my site and will have a chance to make a sale if I am selling an eBook. That's it.

Well said by Matt. just create a business group on facebook and invite the peoples. If they are interested in that group then i don't think there is any problem to promote your business.

I try and find others who share my niche and reach out to them, invite them to be fans, etc.

This is something I do, as well. I've been playing with Facebook Ads to get more traffic to the fanpage, and then also experimenting with the particular page they land on. Facebook can be really great for getting traffic to your site, building your list, and sometimes even making sales directly.

I've dabbled with Twitter a little bit, but haven't really gotten into it yet. I know my husband's business uses Twitter and Facebook daily to keep fans updated with everything they are doing, keep dialogue and interest going, etc.

i am also interested to know if it exists a service that allows you share a message across all the social networks without having to do it on each one individually.

social networking is not easy as you think, you have to join all particular websites then post your information then share with friends, make lots of friends on every site.

Even i do use HootSuite. With XML feeds we can automatically distribute our posts/articles through facebook, twitter instantly. This could be helpful in saving some time.

Well I am just getting social with my online business. However, I think there will be a lot of work involved. You'll need to join other persons groups, fanpages etc and take part in discussions so that you voice can be heard and people will know exactly what you have to offer. As the name suggest 'social', you'll have to do some work to interact with others in your field.

For Facebook for example, it's a great idea to encourage folks to be fans of your business site by offering them something they want, maybe a free eBook

You can use social media to make people aware about the services, products, and promos of your business. You can also utilize these by informing your target about the industry of your business. For example: if you are into automotive industry, you can share or tweet about the development in cars, fixing cars, latest trends in automotive.

Henry, make sure you customize each of your social media outlets, like your Facebook page. Make it stand out. Also, link them all together--Facebook, Google Plus, Linked-In, Twitter, etc--and make sure that they all have your website link on them. This is a great way to leverage social media.
