I have article in my website and would like to promote the article using article directories, is it considered as spam or white hat technique?

Article marketing is certainly not my cup of tea!
With your idea...what’s ultimately gonna happen is...only copy of article will appear in search results and rest be labelled as duplicate.

I would suggest that you go for other better promotional techniques....But if you are hell-bent on article marketing, publish the article on your website first and then push it through only 1 or 2 premium directories.

It should be consider as black hat technique because according to google panda update it will be the duplicate content and violation of google's policies therefore your should leave this way.

Simply write 'another' article that relates to your website category. Then, submit this new article to article directories. This is a white hat technique with no risk involved.

It depends on how you are promoting your article. posting the entire article content in the number of websites will be considered as spam, but a bit of your article content with a link to your article page will be helpful in getting good PR, web traffic and obviously this is a white hat technique.

Ideally just bookmark, tweet, FB share and +1 those articles...publishing same articles is not WHITE HAT....

    - Share the article on popular social networking sites
    - Submit the URL to premium social bookmarking sites
    - Share it across related forums and communities
    - Use the link in email signatures

About the guest blogging part, I haven’t clearly understood it. But of what I get...you want to use the same article as a guest post, right? Most bloggers have some posting guidelines laid out for guest bloggers... and most often than not, they do not entertain duplicate posts. Best would be to rewrite the article to the point that only the meaning remains the same and then use it as a guest blog.

If that article is in your website content then it will be treated as spam. But if you have link form other article websites in your own website then you can do the same which you have mentioned.
