Hey everyone, I have a friend who runs a PR5 website. If I get a link on a side page of his site, will it carry the same value as it would if it were on the front page? In summary, do non-home pages still carry authority?
No, not the same authority. But that isn't to say they don't have authority. They are contextual links coming from a site that Google trusts, they will still have weight with the big G
This, exactly. Don't devalue any links that you can build, even if they're not homepage links. Building more links increases your rankings and your traffic. If non-homepage links didn't have any weight, people wouldn't bother with guest articles and such that don't end up on the homepage of the other site.
Tell me, how can a PR 5 page be same as PR 0 page? Your subpage backlink would not get the same value but as there are few many ranking factors Google has, you are surely going to get 'some' juice for your subpage link.
I think differently. When getting links from PR 5 on home page with a link to the page. But do not rule out the possibility that the PR 5 page site also has a PR that will deliver more value.
A backlink, is a backlink. But don't expect it to carry as much weight. Check the PR of the page itself.
It won't be the same value, but depends on the page rank of the side page and it's relevance to your site.
Inner pages are not normally better than the homepage. There can be exceptions. Yes inner pages do carry weight and can have PR to them. If you get a Blog Post on his site just build backlinks to your post. If you do enough quality backlinking to that post it can gain PR.
