My Forum is Spamming

Hello Friends,

I have forum with mybb. Now it is spamming with adult,treatments and with more post. They create 200 spam accounts per day and generate 500 post per 2 days using bot software. Please help me how to I can clear my forum and manage users quickly.

 

add stopmyforumspam mod and add security question mod, after doing this you will get 0 spam.

Preventing spam on mybb

I use the 3 plugins listed there and rarely get any spam. Maybe 2-3 posts got through since September. There's a lot of signup attempts which you can see in the SFS log, but very few get through. Most are picked up by that addon or fail the security question. Most forum spamming software has ways of passings captchas, but they get stuck at the secret question.

Currently have 1000 of spam account created, how to I can ban all members at once by uploading member list, can you tell me any way to ban list of members at once and prune their all post at once or easy way.

 

There's a plugin called Delete Member Posts, you'd have to do it one spammer at a time but it will ban them and get rid of all of their posts too. However, it's not free I think, you have to have a paid sub. @ MyBBcentral.com to get it.

Also, you can try adding the security question plugin and making it specific to your niche. It will stop a lot of the automated crap as they won't know the answer. For example if your forum is about cars, ask a question that only a legit member would know like XYZ model is made by which car company?

etc.

 

Get an auto-pruner for mybb that'll delete inactive (i.e. spam) accounts. Also Aksimet is a good idea.

 

http://mods.mybb.com/view/stopforumspam-com-for-mybb will block out a lot of spam. Also any sort of Q&A feature where you can set questions to be answered on your forum's registration... JUST REMEMBER! Make the questions related to your forum niche and make them a bit hard. A real user will look up the answer and join, xrumor and spammer will likely go elsewhere

Math questions and "Are you a bot" type questions will be easily infiltrated CAPTCHA? Don't bother, they are broken... There are services in India that sells 1000 CAPTCHA answers for $1!

 

Thanks for all post, I have go answer for my question, I have stop forum spam using Aksimet and stopforumspam pluging, all spam post deleted by manually, but I spend 2days for it, Now forum is clear and fresh.

On the stop forum spam feature, I would disable username scanning otherwise it will block out a lot of real members. Like for example, the username "Shawn" in blocked on SFS and that is a common username I use on forums

 

Keep your forum updated to the latest version and remember to use some plugins to block spam. Strong captcha is annoying but viagra bots are more annoying.

as a last resort, you can switch to activate the accounts yourself, if the account is not activated, they can't post. It's obviously not so good if you have millions of users, but you may give it a try, I've done it sometimes .

 

theres a few good mods that seem to help and so does other 3rd party services
