I used Bit Defender & Nod32. I recommend Nod32 as it's lite to the system.

I used to use ESET. But then i got bored of it because i used it for like 2 years. Now i use Avira 2012 Internet Security. Charming :)
I hear it's the strongest as well.

Anti-virus is a very old way of protecting your computer against malware. There are over 75,000 variations of new malware found every single day and anti-virus vendors are finding that hard to keep up with. By now all the anti-virus vendors should at least be using cloud based protection. Norton, Kaspersky, and Comodo are the top performing vendors in this category. To help keep your computer clean you should install a good cloud-based internet security suite, install a solid HIPs (unless your IS had this), run in LUA mode, virtualise your internet browser (sandboxie or similar app).

Just look at the detection rate of these products against new malware...
    GFI 98.0%
    Avast 97.0%
    Kaspersky 97.0%
    Norton 92.0%
    Eset 85.0%
    Microsoft 82.0%
    Avira 81.0%
    AVG 79.0%
    BitDefender 76.0%
    McAfee 74.0%
    Webroot 52.0%
    Trend Micro 41.0%

As you can see some as pretty p1ss poor. That is why we add additional layers of protection such as HIPs. DefenseWall HIPs has a very good track history of blocking 100% of all new malware. I prefer SpyShelter but thats just my choice, and there any many more good HIPs around.

Although there is no 100% guaranteed security setup, this is my mine which I believe to be bullet-proof based on good hard tested facts...
    Windows 7 LUA W/ Updates
Norton IS 2012 - (Heur & Sonar set to max)
PrevX - (Age Pro, Heur Pro, Pop Pro all set to maximum)
    SpyShelter - (High Security Level)
    Sandboxie

    I hope this helps ;)

From first I am using Avast! home edition. It gives complete protection to my PC/laptop. And now it has many tools like web shield, email shield, anti-spyware, IM shield, P2P shield, Network shield, script shield, behavior shield, site blocking, web rep (for web browsers), sandbox (to open corrupted/harmful files).. and lot more.. all for free :)

Mary William, for me there is nothing better than Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 as it combines Symantec AntiVirus with advanced threat prevention to deliver unmatched defense. It goes beyond basic antivirus software programs to seamlessly integrate essential security technologies in a single agent and management console.

I'm actually wondering if all of those anti-virus links above are str8 links, or, perhaps cloaked affiliate links? The reason why I mentioned it is because hopefully you are benefiting from letting us know about those awesome companies. Let me know!
