How about building some social site profiles and build links to those that in turn point to your money site. I've found they can be very powerful but somewhat time consuming but you can just keep going as deep building layers as you need to get good rankings.

I would personally, not stop building links just because I see a site at #1.. You don't have to go all out when you get there but you should still be consistent on what you were doing previously

 

LMFAO! Forum sigs and profile backlinks are worthless and the biggest spam links google don't like. If you really think that, your web career will never go anywhere...
