Static Websites:A static site is a website that is written entirely using HTML. Each web page is a separate document and there are no databases or external files that are drawn upon. This means that the only way to edit this type of website is to go into each page and edit the HTML. So you would have to do it yourself using a web page editor such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver, or pay your web developer to make updates for you.

Dynamic Websites:A dynamic website is written using more complex code — such as PHP or ASP — and has a greater degree of functionality. For instance, many dynamic websites can be controlled by a content management system. This means that you will potentially be able to make updates without needing any knowledge of HTML or any website software. Each page of a dynamic website is generated from information stored in a database or external file. And the content management system that you may use to maintain your website directly modifies this stored information.

Static website don't deal with database. whicle in dynamic website content part of pages are fetched from database.

in dynamic web site you have good command over altering/editing content while static website needs to be chnaged by web developers and need to digg in to HTML for making changes

I suggest go with dynamic site if you have some enough budget

Static websites contain only static pages that exist in their entirety before you visit the website. They contain only pages that cannot be changed except by the originator. They are generated once by the originator and uploaded.

Dynamic websites contain pages that do not exist until you visit the web pages. They contain pages that are generated on-the-fly every time the pages are accessed. Dynamic websites can also contain static pages, however dynamic websites must contain at least one dynamic web page.

Well, Basic different is Static Website is constantly changing and Dynamic Website is update and add new content to the site. A static website is rather limited in its functionality while the dynamic site has a great deal of potential in terms of functionality, but it can be complex to use. Many sites from the last decade are static, but more and more people are realising the advantages of having a dynamic website.

    Hi.
As from the name it is clear static means stable, there is constantly changes and it uses only HTML. Dynamic means which is not stable, it update the new content and add new to the website and uses PHP or ASP.

Dynamic sites also use Javascript too as well as HTML (as well as PHP etc) they allow a lot more interaction from the user than a static page does.

    Static means "constant--never changing".
    dynamic is "changing".

You can make dynamic changes to a database without having to shutdown the instance and restart for the changes to take effect. However, if you do not update the control file, when you shutdown and startup, the dynamic change is gone--it wasn't permanent.
Static sites are meant for those sites that cant be changed or updates regularly.
and Dynamic sites are those sites that changes or update regularly.

    Static Website and Dynamic Website
    Static Website:

A static website has web pages stored on theserver in the format that sent to client web browser. It coded in HTML.

    - It is quick to develop
    - It is cheap to develop
    - It is cheap to host
    Dynamic website:
Dynamic website changes / customizes frequentlyand automatically
It contains Code and Content. Code is invisible andcontent is visible.
    - It is functional website
    - It is costly to develop
    - Easier to update

That's a good explanation. I think I tend to be one of the few people that prefer static over dynamic. However I do like the ease of use offered by CMS when it comes to dynamic sites.
