Let's say I am making a page and it has the following url: http://sampleurl.com/123456.php?auth=me will it index as: http://sampleurl.com/123456.php or http://sampleurl.com/123456.php?auth=me
They will follow including the parameter values. But search engines have explicitly mentioned to minimize the number of parameters (variables after the "?" symbol) so be aware not all will be followed at all.
also keep in mind that the SE is just step 1, step 2 is a person reading and using your site/page, many webmasters seem to forget that, remember that the SE are just mean, not the goal ! keep you url's clean !
I think Google can still index more than two even if they had the statement but just save ourselves from trouble, we better stick to 1 or 2.
