    This might seem like a silly question, but I am from the US and have heard the term Bollywood tossed around over the years. I have no clue what Bollywood means:). Is Bollywood the equivalent to Hollywood in India?

    hollywood is entirely different from bollywood ,when one compares hollywood with bollywood keep these point in mind which are,,, technology, money, genre of movies(or one should say nature of movies)..................* Hollywood has got far better technolgy than bollywood ( e.g special effects)* Holly wood movies are more leaned towards reality subjects , more towards realism , got finesse in their movies , where as bollywood movies are more towards old traditional love stories !*Directors like steven speilburg invest billions of dollars and they're paid back with double the invested amount so obviously hollywood has larger money bank than what bollywood has got
