Selling NEW Business Forums! Only 3 Months old!

Hello there everyone

I am selling my site www.discuss-business.com. It is a forum dedicated to all sorts of business categories.

The site's unique visitors/month has raised rapidly as you can see in the screenshot below.




We are also climbing the alexa ladder very fast. I presume that in ~ 3-4 weeks the site is under 100k.

I really love the site and hate letting it go. But unfortunately I just don't have the time to manage it anymore. I have spend much time and money in this site so the starting bid will be 300$.

Our traffic come from many different forums/sites where we advertise the site but also google. We are on page 1 with the keywords "discuss business" which has 22,000 searches / month

and the activity is "OK" I guess. Most people who land on the site just click through the pages, reading the posts or news. But with the right tactic you could make them register.

 

Okay, here are some questions.
1 The site looks like a standard out of the box phpBB to me, is that correct?
2 If you got 125000 page views out of 35000 visitors, then what's the reason they don't stay?
3 I've got some article-sites that builds my list with 200 subscribers a day, no advertising at all.
4 You need a good host to get away wit the high bandwidth at the site.
Just to be curious, how many of the post did you upload yourself
So please let us no where does the requested price of 300 dollars come from?

I made about ~120 posts myself. You can see my name and posts in red.
The requested price is because of the sites high potential.

Those stats on that screenshot are all WRONG.

The estimated exact searches by google's keyword tool is 58 exact searches per month. So not sure what potential you're referring too but I see none especially for $300 asking price. Why don't you add google analytics to the site so we can see the actual source of this traffic because awstats has been known to be inaccurate?

The keywords tool pic you posted is of broad searches not exact. If you check the exact searches box to the right you'll see that only 58 exact searches occur each month. Why don't you add google analytics?

 

May only have 58 exact searches but it does sit on Google page 1 for keyword: discuss business

How many of you would type in "discuss business".
If I was looking for something on discuss business I would simply type it in.
"discuss business" means crap
discuss business is the real people search you should be targeting.
Just my two cents.

The only stats that matter when using Google's Keyword Tool is exact searches everything else is in reference to an adwords campaign so unless someone can provide me google analytics proving that the traffic he's showing in awstats is coming from organic searches related to being on page 1 for "discuss business" the site value is being overvalued. It is what it is and if he gets the $360 currently the top bid then more power to him and the new owner will be needing a prayer to recoup their investment.

 

I for one think exact match keyword hunting is a crock. I have a keyword that gets 26 exact searches per month. Yet I get, on a slow month, over 3,000 per month.

Who knows.........I think a lot more depends on your content, your subject, your backlinks, etc. than just a keyword exact match.
Again my two cents and I apologize to the OP for hijacking your sales thread. I just hate it when someone downs a sales thread based on something that is only speculation and yet to be consistently proven.
I am not a guru, I make an ok living on the web, I have over 370 sites and I can tell you first hand it is NOT the exact match keyword that will bring you visitors.

Either people love this site/forum in the Netherlands or he has purchased traffic.

 

Another site confirming traffic and says 1.8% of traffic is from search engines.

Hey to each its own. Many die by exact search stats from keyword tool including me. All others don't really matter because those stats aren't directly from google. It's like I said good luck to the seller and buyer. I've decided there are too many concerns on stats to invest my money so I'll let someone else do so.
