How to promote a funny picture website?

Anything viral, such as social media marketing is going to be very helpful. I'm assuming your site is similar to 9Gag. A lot of my friends on Facebook post 9Gag photos and videos all over Facebook. What you want to do when you do Facebook marketing is have people share what you post. Create a fan page and have some close friends share your site and/or photos on their pages.

 

I think that the better way to promote a website or product are Social Media like Facebook,Google +,Twitter,with youtube video etc

Make sure you add some viral plugins to make sure your site goes crazy on youtube and twitter.
You can also have your subsribers opt-in to your mailing list so that you can keep them updated about new developments and other funny things.

Viral marketing is your best bet definitely and you want to have an extensive campaign on all social media platforms (not just FB).
Also you need to realise that the whole comedy pics etc is pretty competitive so you're going to need to build lots and lots of backlinks through - guest posting, forums (DP for starters its not even in your sig link), paid advertising if you have the budget, articles if you have to and then just keep adding content

1. Give people something worth talking about.
2. Make it easy for them to do so.

Assuming that the images on your site are down right hilarious, I would suggest one thing: allow people to directly link to your images. Many sites want to save bandwidth and basically force people to upload the picture themselves somewhere if they want to post it (most people won't bother). This is the wrong approach. Let them directly link your images so that people can easily share them with everyone. If you want, you can have a little watermark on each picture with your logo or website so that the traffic gets sent your way.
