How many outbound links to stay safe?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by andrej, Dec 7, 2011.

I'm selling text links on one of my websites and I've just sold 11th link today. I wonder how many outbound links should I have on my site maximally to avoid a penalization? 15? Or 20?

All the links are related to my site.

Actually it depends on your site size. If you have a larger site with million of past then million of outbound link requires for the balancing or you have a site with single web page then 10 outbound link would be consider a lot.

i think you should not have more than 100 outbound links. its because in a tool when i check my On page they always says that my outbound links are more than 100 and its not good.

The lower the better. As a rough idea you can go up to a max. of 20 links per page, but there is no specific rule for this.

Outbound link is a link from your website to alternative website. So it will better if you use minimum of link on your website, because it may be harmful or it will became cause of lacking your keywords ranking on Serps.

I would agree with some of hte others above saying that it is dependent on the site. I wouldn't throw up 50 blogroll links, this looks spammy. However, if your links are mixed in with good content that is relative to the backlink, then you're okay. This is why blog posts on blogs with PR are increasing in popularity over sitewide backlinks with no content that is related to those links.

Yes I think every one need to keep outbound links as low as they can. however if you keep adding quality content and making more back link on other sides that pointing to your site you can always add more links to your site. the best is to keep 15 to 20 link. if you have a pr3 of your website.

I really wouldn't go any higher than 15, since there are usually many more outbounding links that aren't from partners. Also try to outbound-link to quality websites-only. Make it not look like real 'link selling'.

True, but at the other hand, if you can invest the money in advertising and get a good RoI it might be a good thing to do -- even though you're linking to other sites. And also, you might now be linking to others, but might not do that later on :)

Depends from what kind and the authority level sites that you linked for. Basically, Google will see a site based on the OB from that site. The more OB it has, means the bad SEO for that site. If you link a site from an authority site which has high pagerank like wikipedia, education site, gov site and other trusted sites, Google will not see this as a farm link. But if you link for non-authority sites, my advice keep your OB less than 15 to make you stay safely.
