I am feeling that no matter what I do,I am not successful with search engines. What I am doing things wrong, I have a poor SEO performance. My competitor is really tough. My niche isn't that competitive,

I want to know how to monitor your competitors' success and failure.

set up google alert for your competitive websites into your gmail. So as soon as they do any promotional work which is cached by google, you will be notified what exactly they have did.

yes its a very good way. but at first you have to become their competitor. so you have to do the same things that they have done. see their On page. try to find out any kind of wrong things. then correct it in your website.
check their back link status. then try to build those links. it will definitely help.
    thanks

The way I analyze my competitors is to pay attention to 2 big things. I want to know how many linking root domains they have, and how fast they are building links every month (this is called link velocity). I use magestic SEO site explorer to see how fast my competitor is building links, then I use Opensite Explorer so I can see what links my competitor is building, along with what anchor text they are targeting, how many different websites (not just pages on the same sites) are linking to my competitor.

I then go through his back links and filter out any bad links, then I do link requests from all the sites I believe are passing value to his site. I also look at the anchor text my competitor is targeting, and I chase keywords which he is not too heavily invested in terms of anchor text.

Now I know which keywords he's chasing, what links are helping him, and how fast he's going. Now I can devise a strategy to beat him.

In my opinion, If your site is a really poor then other site then you can check your competitors site and think, how the competitor sites are more effective than your site. You can check your competitor site by using compete.com.

Fresh and unique content is the king, then quality backlinks (I assume you already know everything about the on-page SEO). You can check your competitor's backlinks with any free tool, for instance http://www.backlinkwatch.com/.

Dsiqonley was spot on and other webmasters have shared SEO tools to find out competitors secret. Reverse engineering is good to find out competitors strategy and outperform them. Search Engines give opportunity to everyone, anyone can outperform anyone at any stage. So instead of lamenting start working on SEO, otherwise you have to blame yourself and stand to loose to your competitors. Do read lot of SEO blogs, participate in SEO forums and find out solutions for your problem and if you are not good at SEO, outsource it to trusted SEOs near your locality.

As per my experience you should try to build your inbound links with high pr websites, and the best thing is one way link it is most beneficial for providing link juice to your website. If you want to get one way inbound links to your website, so you should do Social Bookmarking, Commenting, Article Submission and etc. By following this thing you can easily beat any of your competitors.
