Does it matter to (pr) if you change your keywords and keyword order ? Example: If I start with : KEYWORD 1, KEYWORD2, KEYWORD3 Then in 2 days add: KEYWORD 1, KEYWORD2, KEYWORD3, KEYWORD 4 , KEYWORD 5 Then a week later I change it around too: KEYWORD 1, KEYWORD2, KEYWORD3, , KEYWORD 5, KEYWORD 4
We've done very well, long term, leaving keywords as they are. We're constantly tweaking keywords on a page, but for the short term, google seems to ignore them. We still rate for old keywords, or rank in same place, until we leave the new or modified keywords in place for a couple of weeks. Generally speaking, even after we rank for the keywords we want, we still don't make changes to "move us up" the serps for another month or so. Fresh content is always good, and getting those new pages seems to help alot, but modifying existing pages seems to slow down moving up the ladder. Now changing menu that appear on every page has seen immediate changes in the serps (2-3 days) and has done *very* well for us. As has changing content on the front page and "one-link-deep" pages. We still try to avoid the temptation of changing keywords or titles on those pages very often. YMMV.
Body text changes are fine. Title Tag changes will set you back for days, maybe weeks. Google may think your spamming it by constant tweaks to the Meta's. Make a page wright the first time and G will reward you...lol
seo is so hard to do right when you are not educated in it like myself! Im so affraid to change what i got to quickly, but now i know maybe i should mock up my changes then wait to get it right then do the change
I'm of the mindset that you should target one phrase per page. Obviously you want to do a couple of different things on your home page, but make 1 your primary and keep up with the things that got that phrase it's high rank. Tweaking secondary and tertiary keyword settings can cause undesirable results. Sometimes you just can't avoid it, but if you can, be strong and target the other keywords on a different page.
I tweak my Keywords..no problem...after 24 hours new KW are up (googlebot visits me ever 24 hours)...and are allways moving me up...
Are you saying you tweak your Title Tag and Google rewards you? Or were you referring to page content? There is a big difference and I am very curious?
I hope we did understand each others: asumption >> If you mess with tile tag youll get banned or sometinhg my response>> false, if you change, modify your tile tag you can get up or down on SE, it goes both ways ..you can improve your positon, but yes you can mess it up...it is up to you <title>This is title</title>
If you have had <title>KEYWORD1</title> for a while and have lots of links with KEYWORD1 as anchor text then you'll achieve a good positioning on the SERPS. Say you then change to <title>KEYWORD2</title> then all those KEYWORD1 anchored backlinks won't be doing you as much good as when your title was also KEYWORD1. I know by experience that this situation will knock a few points off your PR but I think it will also negatively impact your SERPS.
Well said Akeeldin. I have never seen a positive result from changing <title> of a page in the interim.
I also agree, most rankings need on-page optimisation and off-page, changing the on page factors would mean you'd also have to change all of you IBLs, why not just create a new page for the new keyword term?
"why not just create a new page for the new keyword term?"---- Solid advice...I wasted a couple months last yr. by trying to get too much out of a couple pages...
