    Hi Guys

I'm looking for a service which can check on a daily basis 1000+ websites. I don't mind paying for it I just don't want to pay a fortune. I really want to use a API interface.

    Thanks guys

    Ed

I don't know how much they charge but I just got an ad from http://internetsupervision.com I don't know anything about them.

One I have used, free for 50 sites ( per email address-- with 1000 sites you should be able to come up with 20 emails to forward to one :p ) http://www.uptimerobot.com My subscription shows active, but I haven't received any up & down notices in several months, and my shared hosting was subject to regular (very short) down notices in the past. I suspect often due do site latency as a result of overselling/overloading.

A really popular system is Pingdom.com, a lot of top notch web companies use them.

If you have time and knowledge to set this thing up you can use Nagios or Cacti to monitor not only uptime but 1001 other parameters such as memory usage, hd usage and much more.
    Both are free and opensource.

You can write a PHP script to do this for you as well.

    Hi,

You can use alerta. Its a website monitoring service with phone call, SMS, XMPP and e-mail alerts. We check your websites, servers and routers 24/7, from all around the world, to make absolutely sure they're working like they should. When an outage or slowdown occurs, you'll be the first to know.

    Check http://www.alertra.com/ for details.

You can go for 100pulse, where you can monitor any number of websites with 5 minutes time interval. Get instant alerts when your website goes down through SMS, Email, RSS feeds, Twitter..

Pingdom rocks but for 1000 websites I understand it may be to expensive.

My suggestions is to get a VPS or server, and install some free monitoring software like Nagios. I actually suggest you try Zabbix which is easier then Nagios.

You will need some decent VPS or Server for 1000 websites depending on frequency, example, 10 minutes or less, if you put every minute then you will need a proper machine for 1000 checks per minute.

What ever you choose it will be cheaper then hire Pingdom or some service. Then just hire Pingdom (1 check is free) to monitor that VPS or server and you are set to go.

I use uptimerobot, have you tried them? They either send you an email or text if your website is down.,.
