Looking for some sites to help gain initial traffic, and please don't mention the really obvious ones. Any backlink, article submission, link directory. Just any site to help me get some comments and/or users.
I doubt many people here will give you a link to their ultra-secret PR2+ links you can get free backlinks from. You will probably end up paying for them. Aside from those (which are few and far between even in lists that people sell) are relevant links which are better and more important. I don't know what niche you're in for sure, but it sounds like you are into giving business advice based on your signature. Have you thought about going out to the top business blogs and making your presence known by providing free content to them? This is work, but it's not a bad way to get very good links and get your website known within your niche.

Try to make a decent press release and have it submitted to good ranking PR/article syndication sites. sbwire and amazines are not so strict and approve easily. You'll get your article/PR passed on to many other sites and you might get some traffic as well
