I'll jump in on the picture topic.....I don't like that you're showing RAW chicken. I used to market a dog food and we did a lot of market research on whether people wanted to see raw meat on the bag (and the food was frozen raw so it made sense to show it that way) but even on dog food we found out people just don't want to see raw food. (where do they think it comes from?)

I think of glorious food picts. That just seems like a weird angle of... um i wasn't sure at first. Didn't look appetizing. Maybe it's just to close to the meat. ;)

If I may step in on the picture topic...

Having something that is "fuller" (is that a word?) with more food rounded up similar to a full buffet or even cooking like you are showing but almost ready to serve and full instead of spread out.

Also, it would be nice to have the graphic fade out behind the heading text instead just before or even near the edge. This looks more *professional* and give the impression of depth. IMHO.

I'll be blunt, it sucks. From the raw meat photo at the top, to the colours used (black background white text, skin colour background etc.,). I can see you aren't breaking any design boundaries as a quick check of the code and I see no tables and 100% reliance on CSS...which isn't a bad thing but you haven't done anything great with it.

No paragraphs, so line spacing, no heading titles, the links box on the left will restrict the text on the right.

Have a look at one of my favourite sites, www.linkedup.com and see how others layout and use colours to the max on their sites.

    Good luck with it.

    dont hold back there!!!! :)

There is paragraphs used, just at the moment its one big paragraph,

There are H1 used, there just resricted through css!.

    but ill change the picture

    Tks

haha, no THT I don't hold back.

I get a bit fed up of seeing sites like the one you showed, especially since Web Design is my field also.

For me, Web Design is about being creative - either you've got it or you don't.

sorry, the url I should of gave you was http://www.linkdup.com/

i have a few comments on that link:

    1) Although they might look nice, theyre not particularly usable or even nice to use

    2) they are all flash.

Innovation is good, but it has to be the right kind of site..,,,

In that case check out www.csszengarden.com . no flash, but some great looking accessible, usable css designs.

    Hi misohoni

Digressing from the topic a little but wondered if you could expand a little on the features you like on the linkdup site i.e. three column layout? site colours?

Don't worry I'm not knocking the site but I'm always curious as to what people regard as 'out there' design.

I have no issues with the design, and I'm a designer. ;) However, i'd also suggest making the picture and words on top into two graphics. One gif and one jpg. That way they'd compress much better.

No I meant the sites that are on the linkdup.com site. They are pretty good and not all in flash!
