Why do we need likes?

I understand that you can use facebook to advertise yourself or company but why all of the likes? What does it earn you? I don't use facebook that much so I am curious to find out why everyone wants so many likes.

 

The more no. of likes you get the more traffic you get from Facebook.

LIKE is basically a way to share something interesting to your friends on Facebook, if you have 500 friends and you LIKE something it means those 500 friends are going to check it out, good for site owners

 

That makes sense. So basically it helps to increase the amount of exposure that you get. However, another question I have is if you buy likes from a site or w/e is those real likes from people or just a bot doing it?

 

More likes> more exposure> more people > more sales = more money!!

 

Well definitely makes sense. As I stated I was also curious about these places that you can purchase likes from. Is it real people or just bots doing it?

Because we want more traffic, and in otrder to get traffic from facebook, one needs to get more likes..

 

because facebook is one of the largest social network today and have millions of active users that almost every day to open facebook. So I think it's a chance that people like,, CMIIW

 

I think it is all a bunch of 'hooey' but who am I to argue.

I guess it is better to ask for 'likes' than to spam everyone with links to your 'offer'

 

Technically speaking...more likes and more comments can improve Edge-Rank and if your post have higher edge rank it will appear on the wall of all of your friends, and if it has low Edge-Rank it will appear on the wall of only those with whom you communicate and interact most frequently.

When someone on facebook likes your article, they share it on their wall, so its basically telling all their friends about it. Although the benefit isn't just about direct traffic. There is suggestion that social media plays a role in SEO nowadays, and it will probably only become more important.

That's an odd comment for someone promoting a facebook likes site in their signature.

If you get more likes from your friends of course others would look at your page too. More possibly, they could buy your products.
