Question about phpld version 2 and changing the time limits

Discussion in 'Directories' started by iowadawg, Nov 5, 2006.

Here is something that has been bugging me for some time.
Say on a directory, I have set it so that included links are on the directory unlimited (permanent), both free and paid. Regular and featured links.
Now I want to change that to yearly for new submissions.

Will that affect the present included links? Will they stay as unlimited or will they revert to yearly>????

    Need a definitive answer here.

    Thank you.

They will remain unlimited unless you change them.

    Ouchies!
Then if I change from unlimited to yearly, you are saying all present included links change to yearly also?

No, they do not in either case. That is, listings already present do not change when you change the listing options for future submissions.

    Thank you!
I just never changed because I surely did not want to mess up everyone who had purchased knowing their links were on permanently.

The Database field for the "deadline" is within each site record, which keeps safe all submissions from your change.
Otherwise, if you had 5000 submissions, the system would have to update all previous records one by one, which wouldn't make sense.

In any case, and knowing you are safe, I suggest you do a backup before starting to play around. :)
