At times, this little industry of ours can get quite brutal. So here's something to cheer you up.

You won't find many Cracked articles relevant to us, but when you do find them, they're definitely worth reading.

    Check it out.

    Regards,
    George

Maybe I'm just not awake all the way yet but that article was total gibberish. The points were valid but the writing yeeech. I thought Cracked was supposed to be funny. sigh, maybe I'm just getting too old.

Well, to be fair, that article didn't mention anything about getting better at writing, just how be happier while you're at it.

Maybe you gotta be a guy to appreciate the visual created by thinking of pant-less cheerleaders. I agree with the points mentioned on the first page of the article. I just didn't find the article funny and the writer just didn't hold my attention.

I normally enjoy reading Cracked to blow off steam or to get a laugh, but I didn't find this one too amusing. Maybe because half of it didn't apply to me. Oh well - it is nice to see the profession getting some mainstream attention, I suppose.

@GEORGE: OMG. This is hilarious. Luv it. Especially the part about setting your own hours - "all of them." So true. Thanks for posting the link.

I quite like his writing style.

However, he seems to have missed the one main drawback to working as a freelance writer - the loneliness.

I like the social aspect of going to work. It helps keep me sane.

I suppose it'd be alright if you had an absolutely buzzing social life outside of work, but if all your friends are working 9-5 and just want to kick back in front of the tele on a work-night, you might find the loneliness starts to grate....

Lol, this was a great read. It couldn't be much truer. Instead of busy malls and grocery stores all I have to deal with is old people. lol

    Agree.
Friends and coworkers envy your flexible schedules, relaxed day-to-day life and self-directed work. But the loneliness can set in after days of work without a supportive workplace environment.

I enjoyed this article. I subscribe to the concept that if you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life. I love writing.
