a fairly new site got 3 spam comments today from 3 different email addresses but all similar spammy comment like "the info here is great".
Names were laquisha, carrieann etc and each name was a link to yahoo. com facebook. com and bing. com.

What the hell? anyone had comment spam like this?

would this affect my site at all having random names linked to big sites homepages. and why would someone do that?

trying to wrap my head around this one but am confused

yes we all get spam BUT they are not leaving links to their websites.

I just got another one and the link was google. com!!

I deleted them anyways because comment was spam.
    This must be automated commenting?
I might email the commentor and ask why they left that link. if thats legal

Check the IP of the spammers if they are similar or coming from difference classes - if they are from the same IP just block it in .htaccess - for my blog I have about blocked through .htaccess

I had links to non-existent sites, I think these spammers are trying auto commenting tools - I don't think it would hurt your site unless it grows to huge proportions.

If you are using wordpress, the best is to click plugins, add new and search for Akismet and install it - it will kill 99% of the spam comments.

    yeah your right
my friend just verified it is from scrapebox
and the reason its google link is user is leaving and testing footprints to see where he can actually place his real links

also did a " " search for just one of the phrases left in my comments and google returned over 17 thousand results. super spammer.

By the way it is a site hosted at 1and1

I think that what you have saying here is really ridiculous, why, because that facebook, yahoo, bing, they are the biggest search engine, why they leave bad comments on your website?
I think there are three reasons: 1, The content of your website would be illegal, 2, the way you optimize your website is illegal, 3, the owner of the webiste is illegal,
