The future for Google+ has always been bright because of its features like Circles which helps you to divide your friend list according to your preferences. You can have different circles for family, friends, work place and others. I like this feature a lot as I would not want to bore my family or friends with my SEO updates which I share with people at my work place. Since Google+ is also rolling out to the businesses, this will definitely make it a much more useful product overall.

I don’t know why people are making so much fuss about existence of Google Plus. I have joined this social network and I love it. I don’t know about rest of the world. Everyone has their own choices and likes and dislikes. It doesn’t mean that Google Plus is completely out of the competition.

G+ and Facebook will be very similar at one point, i think sometimes next year, then they will try to innovate more and one of them will get screwed, we will only have to wait for it, facebook and google are both hosuehold items not only in computers, but also in phones, every phone has both now, with Andriod market getting bigger, it's only a matter of time we will see who will get beaten, but I like both, they offer different things to me, so I would like to see them both. But hey, Only the strong survive in IT>

google + is a very promising social network, but I don't think that facebook will lose his possition. The fact is that Google was late, if he appeared for 4-5 years before facebook would not be as powerful as now.

Future of google plus is bright but not so much as compared to facebook.
People are liking still the facebook and happy with it.
Facebook still rules in social media.

I think Google+ is way easier to use then Facebook. I've actually noticed a huge shift in friends away from Facebook to easier to use platforms like Twitter. Although, they're not fleeing to Google+ any loss of use by Facebook has the potential for a gain for Google+ to win them over. I think Google+ is inherently easier to use. If you have a Gmail account, you've got a Google+ account where you can plus one webpages. So even when you're not actively using Google+, you're adding content to Google+ for others to interact with you.

Another plus is how well all the Google products are integrated together. Unlike facebook with outside developers creating apps and such, most of the services on Google+ integrate perfectly with all other Google products. So I can be on Google+ and jump over to webmasters, or analytics. It's just a much cleaner platform and way less invasive for personal information (another aspect Facebook continues to fail on).

I can see great ptential for G+ especially now they have introduced pages for businesses etc...
Sure there are a few "loose ends" to tidy up but, hey, FB wasn't what it is now when it started.
There are a few excellent features in G+ which are not present on FB, and vice versa. e.g. sort your contacts into Circles on G+ is excellent for sending posts/messages only to those who want it. Page tabs and iframes allow for more control on FB. The competition of both
platforms will eventually lead to very similar features on both platforms. i.e. it won't really matter which you're on
because it will do what the other one does.
As for numbers.... who cares!!! if you have a 100 million or 500 million+ it's the level of interaction that matters and google has Search, Gmail, YouTube and a whole bunch of other mediums to get their message across. FB doesn't (yet!!!)
