help me monetize my wallpaper site

    Hi

I have a problem. Have a wallpaper site with about 6/7k visits and 20/30K views daily and I cannot find a good way to monetize it. What have I tried so far:
yieldads, xtendmedia, smowtion, cpmadvisor (all cpm at 0.01/0.05), image space media, gumgum (both in image ads), clicksor (very slow), cpa offers-geo targeted (screensavers, smileys, tollbars... the conversions are really low) and I probably forgot some. The revenue is pretty pathetic, form 0.5~2$daily and to think most of the ads are ugly flash blinking ones I rather don't run them at all.

I also tried to apply to cpx, casale and valueclick (I know from experience they pay good for that kind of sites, at least some years ago) but they all rejected me.

Adsense? Had problems on my other wallpaper site and got almost banned, so I did not even try.

I would be very happy for any advice you have :)

Is it possible for you to manage the adverts and banners yourself rather than using a third-party advertising program? I imagine 'no' will be the answer if you have a huge website covering a vast amount of areas and topics, however if not this may be a good option.

I am aware of some niche websites that receive only a small fraction of the traffic that you do, but that receive over $10k per year through some very targeted and carefully managed on-site advertising.

With that level of traffic you must have some decent content, right? If so, try to think what sort of companies may be interested in reaching out to your audience and who would be prepared to pay a premium to do so. It's obviously more work but the rewards can be much higher than automating the process (and you're unlikely to get quite so many horrid flashy banners as well).

    Just my two cents...

Hmmm...I'd try to work out the adsense angle again. Have you checked affiliate sites like Clickbank and CJ to see if they have anything you could offer?

I have a wallpaper site with Adsense ... do quite well out of it. I just handpick and review each of the walls on it to make sure its sanitised enough for google.

What about BuySellAds .. have you thought about them?

Buysellads and direct banner sales are also a good option . This is a fact that more traffic does not mean good money always. How many email subscribers do you have ? Have you tried email marketing and affiliate ? Try it , works good if the traffic is targeted . But if the traffic is just random surfers from social bookmarking sites like Stumbleupon and digg then there is very less chance that they will buy anything . This happens a lot of times with design related sites . They get a lot of surfing traffic but difficult to monetize . If you have a PR maybe you can do paid reviews and also sell links from your site .

I see that your topic is closed. Looked through the test, only 7 installs from 1,197 hight quality USA clicks from 7 search. Counted only 74 raw hits. Your conversion, guys, sucks. I'm usually have 1:7-10 installs ratio from that traffic (USA only) on payperinstall.com and all hits are counted 100%, 1:1. And 1:15-20 ratio on DLProfit private torrent software from EU traffic.

where do you get your wallpapers from? I have been looking for royalty free wallpapers for so long. I am willing to buy if its reasonable. I just do not wanna get in any sort of trouble for violating copyright licenses. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Try Affiliate networks like click bank, pepperjam, commission junction. Also create an advertising kit and link it from the homepage. It will attract the visitors who are looking for direct advertising like banner ads & links.

2 Strategies that you might want to implement is to start writing articles and start a blog. You could post information on your blog and direct your prospects to your articles that you submitted to the article directories.

Lots of good suggestions there! Adsense can work but you need high volumes of traffic.
