I would like to boost my rankings on search search engines and website traffic. The website I am working on is new and has 0 backlinks. My plan is to create about 10 different articles (500-1000 words) relating to different keywords about my website. I was then going to manually distribute them to article directories. Does this seem like an effective way to gain backlinks? I used to do some SEO work back in the day, but I have not dealt with a site that has 0 current traffic. I don't want to gain links too quickly. I feel like paying for signature links or anything like that would be a bad decision currently. I used to use a blog to generate new content and traffic. This website will not have a blog for another few months, so I looking to invest in external articles. I am not extremely familiar with article submissions. Is it valuable to submit the same article to many different directories or is that now seen negatively by Google? This website is ecommerce based, so I will probably not participate in any link exchanges. Do you think that link purchases are a good, or would directory purchases be better for a brand new website? Have some good related links on sites which have unique content and good amount of traffic. Don't gain much links in one time. It cause spamming links and could be harmful for you. Good luck
you can submit same article on 20 - 25 article directories. I think paid link & paid directory can help you for short time but those will be harmful in the long run.
article submission is good and you can submit a same article to 15-20 dirs, but just check the quality of the article directories before posting like their PR, crawl rate, approval rate, spam articles, are their articles ranking in google or not, etc... First go for good article directories like ezine, buzzle, sooperarticles etc. In addition to it, paid links are also good.. but you need to buy them very carefully with exact niche as yours and of very good quality. If you are targeting to get backlinks from article sites, then you can do it. You can even use squidoo and hug pages.

Would you recommend this type of SEO over posting on blogs or something similar? Also, should this articles just have a link at the bottom to my website, or would it be more beneficial to have anchor text linking to specific pages?
Typically articles have a bio link at the bottom to you main webpage. The good thing about having a unique article is that you can do many different things with it. So if you want to use the article for different purposes, go for it. But, as mentioned above don't over do it.

Submitting articles is great but don't submit the same article to multiple directories, submitting to ezine under the same author name is preferable, don't worry about that as long as the articles are unique/quality/not published anywhere else. With regards to paid article submissions, depends who you are thinking of paying? You are probably better off doing the job yourself

Article submission is still one of the ways you can get backlinks to your website. You can submit one article to each directory or submit several spun versions of the same article to various directories. But do not submit the same article to different directories. This will only get your article rejected. Article directories are becoming strict with submissions and will run your articles through CopyScape or similar applications before approving it. I wouldn't suggest link exchanges or purchasing links. Since the site is new, it's best to build links to it at a natural pace. It also helps if the backlinks are from sites related to yours. i think it's not a good way because if you are submitting one article in so many directory sites then that article will consider as a copy article because google will consider only one article as a original so you will get only one article benefit so all your work is just worst.. perfect way is to get benefit is. syndicate your article Add that article in one Article Website First which Give you Fast Approval After getting approval Take that link and Now Submit your article in other site with link of first submitted article as a source link ... with this way your article will consider as syndication and it would not consider as a copy content with that you will get nice benefit ....

I think it is common and natural for one article to show up on more than one article site. But I would also recommend that you keep the number of article directories low so that it does not seem like spam. And since it is a brand new site, I would recommend that you submit your site to directories. They are not very valuable links, but they are a good beginner set of links to acquire for a brand new site. Then start doing the article submission. Good luck.
