Changing my web site's domain name. Do I have to resubmit to Google/Yahoo, etc?

I'm considering changing my web site's domain name. Do I have to resubmit the new name to Google/Yahoo, etc? Or is that unneccesasry? I have very little traffic currently.
Also, what else should I consider regarding a web site name change? Thanks

 

Are you changing the ownership as well?

 

Not really required but it doesn't hurt if you do submit it to Google or Yahoo. But if you can index and ping your site this should be sufficient enough as search engines nowadays index sites within a few days.

 

Are you talking about a domain name, or something else? A domain name would be like domainname.com. If you wanted it to be mydomainname.com, you have to purchase the new domain, export the files from your old domain and import them to your new domain. Have you considered "301 redirection"?

I suggest re-submit your website to Google, Yahoo & Bing. Your traffics will hamper for some time but it will be steady.
