Linkbuilding in very specific niches

Hi, how do you get links if you have a very small or specific niche. My example is that I have site about Global Management Challenge, which is a worldwide competition in strategic management. However there are only about 5 sites about it (most of them old without any activity) + organizers sites.

Since I´m selling some stuff about the competion (legal of course, some tools, etc.) I can´t expect that the organizer will promote me.

How would you try to get links in this case and rank better than 30 organizers´ local websites for the main keywords?

Trying to get it from sites about management is quite obvious here. But they are kinda not interested in the competition since they dont play it (it is for university students).

 

The next site www.BusinessScope.biz has a set of showcase online panels (business micronews, business price-lists, etc.) where you can place information about your business and link to you site with no charge.

 

it will be better if you can get backlink from the exactly same niche site.
However, in your case you might consider to go for wide niche such as management niche or business niche, it is still helps

 

Sure, that´s what I´m trying to do. But the thing is that the site doesn´t really talk about management. It is just in the name of the competition. But yeah, it is at least a little bit topic related.

What would you think about making microsites on "free hosting sites"? Would it help? Or waste of time?

If it is very narrow niche , you will not need huge amount of links to rank . If you build some top quality links for your top domain and then build links for inner pages using article submission, guest blog post, blog comment, social bookmarking and social networking sites you will do very well in SERP

 

I know. But the thing is that the organizer of the competition has 30 sites about it, each for every participating country. And all of them rank very well in other countries (e.g. google.pl, google.de). So I have to get above all of that.

 

yeah indeed this is very specific niche but you can still find the ways of link building just analyze your competitors backlinks , use blogs for the same niche, discuss on forums and lastly write a guestpost on some reputable relevant sites.

 

Well, there are no blog, no forums or no competitors backlinks I could analyze in this case. But thanks anyway.

I would just add one more idea I started - I sell products on the site. If I give people discount, they place one way links on their site (sitewide) and some even translate my content to a different language. Maybe this will work good with low costs.

 

why dont you try to use social network for link buildings?

 

I do it. However links from social networks are no that powerful as from other sources.

What are the types of people enrolled in this challenge? If it's management figures in small businesses, it would be a good idea to target small business owner blogs and forums.
