No offence taken, DMOZ management spin as regularly as the Earth on its axis. ;)

Maybe they are mass indexing all E-bay and Amazon stores after a founder asked permission... :D

Santa is a commie (dressing up in red and giving things free - what more evidence do you need?) and I'll shot him on sight.

The real Santa, as everyone knows, dresses in green not red. The red suit was an American invention of 19th century artist Thomas Nast. If you see a Santa dressed in red he is obviously an imposter so go right ahead and shoot. ;)

What if the category you submitted to has no editor? What if the category you submitted to has a corrupt editor? What if the category you submitted to doesn't have an editor that actually works?

But yes, long as it is a quality site, they will be listed no matter what, and in just a matter of weeks too. If they don't get listed, it's because you don't know how to spell or your site just sucks, right? Lol, you sound like an ODP editor to me. :)

Then one of the other 200 or so editors who have permissions there will come along and deal with it eventually.

Then one of the other 200 or so editors who have permissions there will come along and deal with it eventually. Oh and that editor will soon timeout and you will be back to question 1.

Weeks? Could be but really depends on the category and editor interest. If its listable it will 'eventually' be listed. Oh and spelling is meaningless since the vast majority of suggestions are rewritten, unless of course you mean the on-site information isn't spelled correctly In that case the site would suck but still the only problems were some minor spelling/grammar issues that would not render a site unlistable.

Or you can avoid all the eventually some editor come around in a week, months, years or never and just pay an editor owned "SEO" firm and get your site listed in no time. ;)

Yeah and that would accomplish two things:
1)Make you look like a complete fool for paying someone to do something you could have done for free (submitting your site).
2)Probably get your site permanently banned from the directory, if it really did get listed after you paid someone.

First of all you can not get it free since there is no time limit stated in DMOZ, so in practice your site can stay in submission line for ever without being reviewed.

Second, DMOZ has nothing against "senior" editors getting paid for listings as long as they officially don't call it that and pretend that they are doing a SEO work.

That's true, there is no guarantee of a time frame for a suggested site. There is also no guarantee that paying a SEO will get your site listed at all (or suggested for that matter) so IMO you are throwing your money away and left looking like a fool.

This is a valid argument, but if the SEO/Editor is favoring their clients or listing client sites that are not listable then that is abuse. The result could be editor removal as well as site removal and banning. So again, no guarantee that the sites paid for will remain listed.

Paying someone to 'get listed' has more negatives than positives, so why bother. Its just a link. Only a fool would pay someone to do something that has no guarntee of being successful (or profitable) and also that they can do themselves at no cost.
