    As i know that you are new in SEO and want to get latest updates by Google. so you have to read Google related blogs once in a day. And also read new strategy about SEO like on-Page and Off-page.

    Well you should subscribe to google webmaster blog there you can receive new updates from Google, apart from them even try to attain some web seminars to gain an extra edge. Apart from everything you can even prepare a blog of your own in any of free websites such as blogger and start promoting it, Once you see traffic and result you are sure to gain confidence and will start to learn at the same time.

    recently Google is emphasizing in On page an basically contents not the links and other off pages. so trying to increase the quality of your site contents is the best way to get ranked by Google.
