I always keep mine between 1-2% but just make sure your using H1 tags and add you keywords to the title for an extra boost.

Hmmm, I'm surprised that 5-7% works for you. For me today, I'm even not going to 2% anymore. I'm just targeting 1% or even a bit lesser. Even the article directories are now more strict to abide with the google new algorithm. I'm afraid 5-7% keyword density does not work anymore today.

try to have keyword density around 3%, this will get you noticed and not penallized by Google or other search engines.

Well, key word density should be one time every 100 words..

Add your keywords relevantly in your content with a density of about 4-5%. Distribute the keyword throughout the content.

i generally aim for 1- 2% but have gone as high as 3%. The keyword should always be in the title, tagline, h1, h2, h3, meta- description. You can get plugins to help you with this although they are paid.

I agree... going for about 2 % density on each page is good. More than that will be negative for you site. I use my keywords in the top and bottom parragraph and make them bold. thats it!

I always try and go for 1-3 but 3 being the highest. I did it at 5 a few times but I still ranked high for the keyword.

I agree. In a 400 worded article i do not use the keyword not more than 4-5 times, usually one per paragraph. I think this is the most appropriate keyword density.

The best keywords you should include on your site are those that are very popular, but have a low number of competing web sites..
    Good Luck !!

I think less than 2% is fine. Always make sure the content is interesting for the visitors.

seems that the "safe" keyword density is over 1% and below 3%. i use a live keyword analysis tool to make sure the keywords I want to rank are at the safe keyword density zone.

I would suggest keeping it simple: 1 to 2 instances of a keyword in the body and one instance in the header (especially the primary keyword). You'll also want to include the keywords the page is targeting within the HTML title and meta description and the alt tag of a relevant image located on the page. If, in a few weeks, you find that the page isn't ranking for that keyword, consider adding another instance and wait and see what happens. Rinse and repeat until you get results.
