What to do with my abandoned site with 400+ visitors daily..?

I basically just looking for advice. I started my sims site (link in signature) many months/years ago as I saw it as a good niche as I first started my online career. I have now grown out of the site and don't really know what to do with it. I get 400-600 visitors a day and earn £1-2 from adsense. All the traffic is organic and I really haven't done anything with it for ages.

I tried getting back into it and posting once more but it hasn't really seemed to make a difference. Do any of you webmasters out there have any tips for me? Should I really put some effort in and continue updating it daily as I once did, should I look for partners/gamers to help post, should I sell the site or should I just leave it as is and be happy with an extra £30 or so every month?

    All advice is highly appreciated.

put some effort in, buy/write some more articles. Submit it to the different article directories. Get some links and watch the income grow.

Writing regularly and original is the only best way to increase your web value. Try to do social marketing with facebook and twitter.

    Hello,
Are the visitors you're getting targeted. Have you thought about flipping the website, parking it on sedo?

Thanks for the quick replies, I guess I'll think about each point:

@random - I doubt I will buy any articles but the thing I used to mainly do was to just post news updates. Looking back, the content is quite poor but overall there is a lot of information there. The site was based around game updates and community news, not so much proper articles, should I try and write proper blog posts with useful information (not saying that nothing there is useful, there are some great tips/help) or should I try getting back into the community news?

@kkunal - I used to be very social about the game, we have a large fan base on facebook and twitter, but all of them are old contacts - how can I try and get back into things? And like I never really understood how to socially market - any tips/links to help me out?

@rach00111 - I don't think I want to begin selling the site just yet, but I would be interested in a partnership? I think there may be a lot more in it if more time is put into it.

@Jaspworld - Yes they are all generally targeted, not people interested in buying things, but mostly gamers and people looking for help. I don't know what flipping the website means, could you elaborate? And surely if I park it on sedo I would initially earn money but then it would very quickly become dead due to losing places in search terms?

Thanks again for all your help.

tweet and update your fb page often. Also as you said. Yours is a sims 3 website (which is game) so try out giving some game giveaway. Trust me readers love giveaways. Also I can see you have not posted for long.

I think you should put some quality efforts on your site as it contains potential so it will again attract the visitors. Don't sell it if you know the art of promoting your site with excellent skills.

Other than getting 400 visitors per day, you also have a natural PR3 and a good doamin name. Some fold on Flippa could pay a good price for this. I'm expecting $500+.

You should keep up with it! That kind of traffic is pretty good in my opinion - you could do some serious damage with that!

Hi Majestry, let me join your thread if you don't mind. I think we're on the same track but i finally decided to sell my sites. They are all currently earning but due to some personal and academic reasons, it's time to say goodbye. I was supposed to make a special post for this but I can't as I am not able yet due to DP requirements, though I sent some PM already to some Premium members asking for help.
Anyway, if anyone is interested to know more details, just PM me. I can provide October 2011 screenshots for ranking, top posts/pages and earning reports.

Autoblogs?-NOPE! All personal, original affiliate blogs!
    Be waiting for anyone interested...

Well I just saw a new Sims game for Pets advertised on Television tonight, I would find a retailer that you can be an affiliate for and sell the new game there. Another thing you could do if you want to keep your sims website and put some time into it is develop a Gaming Strategy Guide for the game and sell it for a minimal price, with the steady traffic you get you could make a decent income doing this..

I suppose you could do a 301 redirect to another site of your choosing, 400+ visitors is pretty good

I like the idea of affiliate sales, most people who visit will have the game so I guess a Gaming Strategy Guide could work well too as suggested by auburnfan23 - I don't particularly want to sell it yet, even though it would be a nice instant cash amount, a longer term flow is more satisfying and with suggestions, I think I can increase the flow by quite a lot. If you have other suggestions, please keep sharing them.

    Thanks!

you should definitely right more articles , even 1-2 will help bring more traffic. When you write articles keep in mind to include as many keywords as possible without making it look like spam. You could also consider building a forum for it as well ?

Your site looks really good. Perhaps you can tweak your site a bit. Play around with the positioning of your ad sense ads to get better conversion rate. One page can have up to three placements, so you may one to add one more placement that would be more related to your site as well.

You can also create your own product - strategy guide is a good idea - and then sell it on your site, put your product on clickbank or click2sell and you can earn extra income from that. While you are at it, build your list from the sales as well.

There are plenty of ways to monetize your site, and with 400 visitors a day, you have a great site that has a lot of potential.

If you are happy with the $30 its making every month and you are not desperate for the cash I would hold onto it for a while. If you need the cash and want to get rid of it put it up for sale of Flippa. You will get a good price for it as its an older site and has had consistant traffic and earnings.

Another way to build on it is sell some advertising space. If its getting targeted traffic on a regular basis then people should be jumping to get their ads on there.
    Hope this helps
