ENOUGH with these damned political tv ads already!

I live in Michigan, and the airwaves have been taken over with ads that build-up or tear-down candidates and proposals for the coming elections.

Where have all the great tv commercials gone?

What used to be an ad with a smok'n-hot woman touting Viagra has been replaced with one on how Governor Jennifer Granholm has been a lousy public servant.

The scantily-clad hotties talking about those 900-chat numbers have been bumped for commercials on whether we should vote yes/no on shooting doves.

Once there were commercials with a sexy-as-hell wife showing us how great those adult warming body oils are .. now we get ads that tell us to vote yes/no on affirmative action in college admissions at the University of Michigan.

What a total waste of tv airspace.

New Jersey is really bad too. If you paid any attention, you'd believe all the candidates are cannibals who want to raise your taxes and eat your babies, and perhaps not in that order. I can't wait for wednesday to arrive so I can watch TV again.

We have them in England, and heck they are alot different to the American ones, we have simple and easy adverts that last 3mins between some shows, we also have many more partys than you so we have ones like Greenpeace and Loney Raving Party. However I think they are a insight into the policys of the partys and I find them helpful.

    Hahahah. For good, right?

I agree with the thread starter. I am from Michigan, and I am sick of them (as well, the automated voice mails). Bleeccccccch.

I'm lucky. I live in a district that (I suppose) votes heavily for one side or the other - not sure which. I only get 1 political commercial and that's for the governor of FL, and even there its very light. When I lived across the water, it was a flood. My mom and brother are sick of em.

We got em for Maryland, Virginia and even West Virginia. Too much! At least we don't have them for Washington DC. That is a one horse town.

They are more than just annoying.

Don't you guys think the tactics used in campaign ads are unethical? They are trying to influence peoples votes with arguments that are, at best exaggerations and at worst blatant lies.

It would be better for the country as a whole if political discourse wasn't allowed to get so low and dirty, especially on TV where the highest spender gets more done.

Damn ... I forgot all about those automated voice mail messages.

Last night we received a call at dinner-time. The caller id showed Texas. Since we have family in Texas my wife picks it up .... IT"S A GRANHOLM MESSAGE!

Now I know we're on that "Do not call" list because I'm the one who signed us up. But apparently that list doesn't apply to political fund-raising and pestering calls.

    It really is annoying.
