Hi There. I have the most absured problem in the world. I have a forum ( see signature). It is hardly 2 months old. Accepted we upload various projects, documents, with each word or pdf documents sometimes of 100 pages odd. But when I check the pages index, Google pages indexed is about 28,000???? And yahoo pages Index is only 3. I have worked very hard to build Dofollow links from PR8 and PR7 sites, but now I am afraid at this mass indexing, will I ever get that PR? One more information: Due to some sub domain, our site is showing with both http:// grasshoppernetwork.com http:// grasshoppernetwork . com and http:// www . grasshoppernetwork .com do I need to redirect http:// www . grasshoppernetwork .com with 301 to grasshoppernetwork.com. Will that minimize the indexed pages? I am really confused and concerned. I would appreciate some help and light on this. This is my humble request to seasoned SEO's here. Thanks in advance.
As far as redirect is concern, it could backfire as well. Because you might be having backlinks for it. So first make an assessment of you backlinks and the current link building process and do accordingly. The forum is built through programming, so like the digitalpoint itself, each of its thread is indexed by google. So there is nothing to worry about.
Thanks mate. I was concerned and that is why I am not redirecting. So you say that total rank obtained through all back links will not be divided by total pages indexed to get the average Rank right? If its the case, i have no reason to worry!
It is highly recommended that you place a 301 redirect from the non-www version of your website to the www version or vice versa. The reason why there are more than 30k indexed by google is due to no 'noindex' placed within the meta tags of dynamic pages. Hence, all unneeded pages like user pages, extra comment pages have also been indexed.
