    Pick a keyword in that niche ex (file downloading website)

    Do the research make sure your competition is low (the lower the easier)

    With money you can outsource, hire developers and designers (good ones) so you can keep up with the big boys.

    Traffic Traffic Traffic, if you want to promote products or make money with ad sense you need traffic and high conversion rates

    Ex your conversion rate is 10% you receive an average of 100 unique visitors a day that = 10 visitors clicking an ad or buying a product

    You say you know some IM so you probably already know that

    but let's keep it simple once you get your graphic needs and developing needs out the way its all marketing from there to bring in the highest number possible

    Your question is what business to start, well my post above summed up, basicly says DO YOUR RESEARCH

    THINK what do people want or even better NEED! what do people NEED what do you NEED to start a website (that is if you have no knowledge in web design and programming) you NEED to hire a designer/ developer

    If I had money to invest Id first do research on what the people NEED and use my money to get it to them for more than what I paid for ( but thats obvious)

    No one can really tell you what business to start, what skills do you have?

    lol, ya, you will need quite a bit of experience, good amount of capital and a lot of promoting and advertising before you can turn a profit and get enough traffic to it to make it a legitimate business - and that doesn't even touch the coding part! lol

    Software portal is good idea, there is always space for one more, but look to be at leas in some small detail different that thousand of other software portals so people can remeber and keep coming back. that is important for any type of business that you will start not only software portal
