Best Forum Software?

I am looking for the best PAID forum software to fit a gaming site. I already have a vBulletin license and vB3 is too old and outdated and I hate vB4 so i'm looking for something different.

Give me your opinions on the best one and why ;)

I used to like IPB (paid) and PHPBB (free), but now I prefer VBulletin and SMF (free).

If I were you I'd take a look at MyBB

For a review of it and to see how it stacks up against some others, paid and free go to Forum Software Reviews

You have a lot to choose from, and it really depends on if you are going to be paying for the software or not. If you are going with a free software, chances are you will have money left over for a custom or well made theme. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend on it.

Best one I've seen so far is Vanilla Forum - it's a very unique piece of software. Pretty lightweight too. It doesn't have too many extra useless crap like most forum softwares have these days. Ofcourse, it's also customable, its got addons, etc.

its vBulletin for a paid forum & myBB for free forum according to me.

we are using vbulletin and its good even though I don't much like of vb4 series @ the current stakes.
We are still using 3.8 series with out any issues.
