As indyonline said there is not a set number.

To get an idea try searching google for link:http://www.competitorsURL.com and seeing how many incoming links the #1, #2 and #3 results have. Then aim to have more links than those sites if you want a chance at being #1. If you have a quality site you could try e-mailing the sites which link to your competitors and ask them if they would be willing to add a link to your web site.

Well first of all, thank you so much for your informations, you don't know how this will really help me. i would ask you if you don't mind about another thing, if i choose keywords that i want and use them correctely as you said, after that when i will proceed on building links to my pages with the same keywords, should i have more links than my compititors for these specific keywords or here too there is not a set of number

For page rank improvement, I think it is better to focusing on website content. Always use original content because duplicate content generally occupy low ranking as comparison to original content.

 

Thank you tisha, but what you mea exactely with duplicate content? do you mean copy paste or should i avoid subjects that the others already talked about?

 

- In our site I don't know it's just happen. We did some exchange links before and then google gave our site pr of 2 and now we got a pr 3 but our SERP is lowered. It's not a good deal on our part though coz for us, SERP is much more important than pr.
