At this moment I am focus on looking for dofollow blog commenting and discover that some high quality blog are now applying "comment closed"

    Question is:
Why they decide to stay a way from the readers?
Is accepting comment (lets say no spam) can endanger our PR?

If the problem was that determines PR is Google not from a commentary, but you need a strong backlink to get a higher PR

The reason I close comments on a lot of my blogs is that I am sick to death of removing crap spam comments, even though I have a spam filter. It is a total waste of my time and I don´t want to have to do it.

Also they are in no way "staying away" from the readers. The readers can still read the post/page.

You were correct! I do implementing spam filter like Askimet, and I think its working fine. In addition, I also implement the approval, so only certain comments which I choose to be approved.

Is ok for blog owner to "Closed the comments" widget, again you were correct without comment your readers wont be hurt. But what a bout for newbie? I know you are experts, your blog is already in place. For newbie there will be no where to get backlink if comments are closed.

because many people thinks like you that it's "high quality blog"
then they want to comment to get the dofollow links, but they end up spamming the blog
so the blog owner sick of the spam and just close the comment :D

Okay, and I completely agree to do that. But do you have suggestion for newbie to get backlink. As we all know backlink from blog commenting is the best compare to buying link, link-exchange and event directory listing.

accepting comments will be harmful for your PR if comments have external links

There are hardly any do follow blogs now anyway. I disable comments on my blog because of the huge amount of time it takes for me to take out spam (and I have a spam filter at that). It take time to read all the comments too and reply back. This could be why you'll come across some blogs with comments disabled.

People usually remove comments from their blogs because it messes up your keyword density as well as the amount of external links people post ruin your PR. Personally, I have a different approach and I only keep one category on all of my blogs that allows comments.

It is not that comments are not important. This depends on the type of blog/website that you have. If you have a blog that aims to discuss local politics, then turning on the comments on your blog will widen the discussion. If your site aims to earn online, then you would want to disable comments because this will only take visitors away from your site.
